Festival of Cultures

25.06.2005

Hello!!
Morning was rather lazy, but then we accelerated. Senor Rüdi came to pick us up to the Festival of the Cultures, which took place in the centre of the cosmopolitan Frankfurt. At the beginning everybody with eagerly started the excursion, but after a while we lost our way. However, thanks to the nice policemen, we found ourselves and additionally the way to the Parade. There was a lot of fun, we saw dancers, actors and aliens from all over the world. And we have switched on our acceptation, tolerance or sth like that that now even the beach full of nudists is not a surprise for us :).
When the Parade came to the end, we headed for Römer and Alte Brücke. We can say now that it was a flight into unknown space with an enormous speed. Happily not even one ‘unidentified flying object’ was destroyed. This trip had a nice musical setting, as we met a Latvian who was playing the saxophone the famous songs, also a part from 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s' (it was really great).
Along the Main (we call it in slang O! Man!) is placed promenade or rather it’s a passage. And we couldn’t resist the temptation and we left our footprints on this track. The sun was shining, and our faces were turning darker and darker minute after minute (and it wasn’t only because of not taking a shower). Our group consisted of Rüdi and Poles, and as Gosia has the German language in her blood, she discussed with our foreign friend. When occurred the theme of the rare dishes, the lady with strange sounding name (Jaque :)) tried delicacy from the Japanese cuisine. In the meantime Aldona, as our mentor of Taboo, presented the figure called 'tree'. Some of us made their own styles, for example 'falling tree' or 'stable birch'.
The time passed very happily and calmly, and finally we could eat something. At first we had dinner, then some part of billiard, and surprisingly we had a meeting with German youths (No of pieces: 2). They were in a deep shock when they met us as they thought that they would meet only Rüdi. They left Kolpinghaus as well as different impressions (on us). After supper we were able to lose some of the calories, that’s when we decided to go to Römer. There were organized concerts and shows. We were watching the concert of the German group playing Spanish music – some mixture of reagge and hip–hop. As the native Poles, we showed the German people and other nations how people dance in our beautiful country. The music was just perfect for jumping, kicking and doing strange things with our bodies and group had funny name Les Babacools.
Meantime Ruedi rescued some boozers as he is very open minded on every kind of behaviour (even the weirdest). Total respect, Mr G! After the shows we were watching spectacular show – fight with fire swords. It made an enormous impression on us, it was something like the scene from ‘Star Wars’, just in a medieval version. Than we were walking and walking by the time Ruedi invited us to taste the real sushi in the real sushi bar. When we got to the restaurant we sat next to the bar and we got short course of using chopsticks. After a while we were like professionals during making an order. Also the tee was great, however some needed sugar in it. When we ate everything we could, we went home. We had to walk very quickly as the evening wasn’t too hot, and we weren’t prepared for such an eventuality. But for us such a quick walk was just perfect, as we remembered about the calories that we had eaten during this evening. After coming back, delicious fruit drinks were waiting for us. They were made by our chef – Radzislaw. As I mentioned before, they were just splendid. After all of these experiences everyone had enough and all of us made for their rooms. I don’t know what happened later, this only walls know. The day was full of new feelings and we can say that it was a good day. Sleep well!!
